SIMPLE PRESENT VS. PRESENT CONTINUOUS (7º)

The simple present tense is used to express actions that are habits or repeated with certain frequency. The present continuous tense is used to express actions that are happening now.

Some expressions are useful to identify this tenses, as follow:

IN SIMPLE PRESENT                                             IN PRESENT CONTINUOUS

every..., on ..., always, never, etc                     now, right now, at the moment, etc

WRITING TIPS (10º)

How to express your opinion in writing?

These are the most common and practical tips when you are asked for writing an opinion about any topic.

1. State the topic and your opinion clearly in the first two sentences.
2. Present your main ideas in order.
3. Support your ideas with reasons and details.
4. Write a short conclusion.
5. Use expressions and conectors like:
- In my opinion,...
- First of all,...
- Second,...
- In conclusion,...

WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

Look at the picture below and answer the question "WHAT ARE THEY DOING?" according to the subject.  Use the Present Continuous Tense appropriately. Write down your answers into your notebook and take them to class.



For example: 1) They are dancing tango.

We use HAVE TO / HAS TO to talk about obligations.

We use MUST when it refers to rules

We use SHOULD / SHOULDN´T to give some advice

We use CAN for expressing abilities or asking for permissions
